Uppuveli is a main travel destinations on North-East coast that attracts tourists who love beaches. The north-east coast beaches are less frequented by tourists as compared to the south and west coast. The infrastructure is also not so developed to support tourism. The beach of Uppuveli are the most preferred one by tourists on the north-east coast, with long stretch of white sandy beach ideal for swimming and sunbathing. Other traveller attraction in Uppuveli is the Commonwealth War Cemetery where the Allied service personnel who lost their lives during the Japanese aerial attack on Trincomalee in April 1942, are buried.
