Tangalla is considered as one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka for tourists interested in bathing and swimming. Tangalla provides to travellers a long stretch of beach where tourists can walk for kilometers. Travellers won’t find many numbers of staying places in Tangalla as there are just a few guest houses.
Tangalla has many worthwhile tourist attractions in and around the place. At the Hoo-maniya blowhole, seven kilometres west in Kudawela, jets of water spray 15m into the air through a crevice in the rock. Tourists will find the blowhole at its best at the height of the monsoon season in month of June. Other tourist attractions in Tangalla are the magnificent rock temple of Mulgirigala, although it’s 20km inland, and Wewurukannala Temple a few kilometres beyond Hoo-maniya, home to the tallest (50m) Buddha statue in the country.
