Rumassala, located 125 km from Colombo near Galle, also known as Buona Vista, is a beautiful spot that features in the Ramayana. As per legends, it was the home of the queen Sita during exile. It is believed that during the war between Ram and Ravan, Lakshman was hit by powerful arrows and fell unconscious. To bring them back to life, Hanuman went to find out the life saving herbs from Himalaya. He lifted the whole Himalaya hill and brought it, as he was unable to find out the life saving herbs alone. Parts from the hill fell on five places in Sri Lanka, Rumassala in Galle is one of them.
