Reach Kalutara by Air: Nearest Airport is Bhandarnayake International Airport, Colombo. The distance from Colombo to Kalutara town is 43 km, so it will take about an hour or little more by car or taxi.

Reach Kalutara by Train: Kalutara is on Colombo-Matara line. Express trains do not stop at Kalutara North – only at Kalutara South (Kalutara town). Slow trains take about 1:20h to Colombo Fort. Express trains from Kalutara South take about 1:00h to Colombo Fort.

Reach Kalutara by Road: Several buses (AC and non AC) and taxies are available to and from Colombo. AC intercity buses take about 1 hour.

Kalutara Basket Society (open Mon-Sat) is good for more distinctive palm leaf products. For something completely unique to the area, buy some Mangos teens for which the city is famous for.
