National Museum – Colombo

Situated at Colombo 7(Cinnamon Gardens Area), National Museum is the oldest and largest Museum of Sri Lanka, which was established in 1877 by the British Governor Sir William Gregory. National museum is famous among tourists travelling to Sri Lanka for a good collection of ancient artwork including ancient and medieval jewelry, rare collection of traditional masks, antique furniture, palm leaf manuscripts, stone sculpture and many more. Housed in a fine colonial-era building, museum’s invaluable collection of ivory objects is unique in the world.

Timing: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Fridays and National Holidays.
