National Maritime museum, located within the Fort of Galle in a colonial Dutch ware-house, displays the fauna & flora of the sea. Artifacts consist of preserved material and scaled down models of whales and fishes and underwater archaeology. Generally, all the resources of the sea are displayed in National Maritime Museum.
The National Cultural Museum on Church Street is another small museum that houses a relatively small collection of the city’s colonial heritage. Actually, travellers will find the Galle Fort in itself a far more interesting ‘living museum’ as compared to the museums it houses.
