Hakgala Botanical Gardens

hakgala_botanical_gardenHakgala Botanical Garden, located under the Hakgala Peak, is famous among travellers for its highest set of Botanical Gardens in the world having trees like English Oak, Himalayan Pines, Japanese Cedars and Cypress trees from California. Established in 1861 under the patronage of the British, Hakgala Gardens stretches over 27 hectares having variety of the flowers. There are legends about Hakgala (Jaw Rock) Peak that it was part of the Himalayas carried here by the Monkey God – Hanuman during ‘Ram-Ravan Yuddha’ as told in Ramayan epic.
