Gadaladeniya Temple

Gadaladeniya temple, located on a hilltop at a distance of 15 km from Kandy main town, was built in 1344 by the Gampola King Wicramabahu. Gadaladeniya temple, built almost exclusively of stone, is based on Dravidian architecture. A moonstone marks the entrance to the main shrine. The entrance porch of Gadaladeniya temple features large stone pillars, supporting a roof of huge stone slabs.
